It's beginning to look a lot like Krampus!

Fun Hannah fact? I LOVE Grimm. Best show thats on TV right now besides Big Bang Theory. So lets get into the Grimm of things! Merry Krampus everybody :D

"Krampus is a beast-like creature from the folklore of Alpine countries thought to punish children during the Yule season who had misbehaved, in contrast withSaint Nicholas, who rewards well-behaved ones with gifts. Krampus is said to capture particularly naughty children in his sack and carry them away to his lair.
Krampus is represented as a beast-like creature, generally demonic in appearance. The creature has roots in Germanic folklore; however, its influence has spread far beyond German borders. Traditionally young men dress up as the Krampus in Austria, southern BavariaSouth Tyrol, northern FriuliHungary,Slovenia, the Czech Republic, the Slovak Republic and Croatia during the first week of December, particularly on the evening of 5 December (the eve of Saint Nicholas day on many church calendars), and roam the streets frightening children with rusty chains and bells. Krampus is featured on holiday greeting cards called Krampuskarten. There are many names for Krampus, as well as many regional variations in portrayal and celebration." - Krampus Wikipedia page

A Drow by Any Other Name

Anybody who has read R.A. Salvatore's books involving the rather famous Drizzt might also know the 'infamous' Jarlaxle who runs Bregan D'aerth in Menzoberanzan. While not exactly evil, he's not good either and likes to play the field in all aspects of life ;)

Astral Power

The Sorceress again, and this time her little familiar isn't so little....or friendly looking for that matter!

The Pot & Kettle

This one had some minor editing in photoshop to get everything straightened out. One of my favorites from last year.

Quothe the Raven

A friend of mine had told me he wanted a raven tattoo for his back, and so I set about trying to draw some birds. They are harder than they look I tell you...

This was one of the idea's I managed to get down that I liked.

Late Night Paperwork

This picture of a sorceress and her familiar is from a couple years ago, but it still remains a favorite. Coloring was done traditionally with markers and colored pencils.

Art Block & Etsy

So I haven't really been drawing
lately. In fact, I haven't even
sketched anything in about a month!
Haven't really had any inspiration.
However! I have still been being
creative. I have been making
dreamcatchers and hemp
bracelets to sell in my new
Etsy shop! Please go check it out.
I do take requests!

To the left is one of my few wood
frame catchers. Hemp for the web
with glass and plastic beads, and the
feathers are from a Cedar Waxwing.
Very pretty bird :)

M.E.R.C.

A few years back, I wanted to make a graphic novel called M.E.R.C. which stands for Merciful Evacuation of Ridiculous Critters. I never ended up writing up the script and doing it. But I still like the concept of the cover for the first chapter!

Sitting on a Sidewalk

Her tears had finally stemmed their flow, but she sincerely wished her bloody nose would do the same. Honestly, how long could it keep bleeding? It had been quite a few hours now, and while it certainly wasn't flooding down her face the constant trickle down her lip and chin was becoming itchy.

"Excuse me, little girl?"She jumped and turned to look at the man who had addressed her, her hazel eyes wide and panicked. She certainly hadn't heard anyone approach her! She leaned back away from him and he stopped his advance, sensing her distrust. After all, it was late, and he was strange. It was only natural for her to be wary even if she was young. Her eyes narrowed and looked him over carefully leaning just a little farther back as he took another step forward."I apologize for startling you, but I was concerned. Are you alright?"She saw his eyes flick from her slightly bruised face and bloody nose down to her scraped knee before returning his attention to her eyes. She frowned and turned her head forward and watching him out of the corner of her eye."I'm not to talk to strangers." came her brusque response as she pulled her knees up towards her chest."Ah," he said, the corner of his mouth twitching up in amusement."Well, I believe I have a way around that!" He took another step forward before lowering himself to sit a few feet away on the curb beside her. "My name is Raven. May I inquire as to yours?"She stared. This was his way around the rule? Her eyebrows furrowed at him in confusion. Honestly, why did he care?"...Azriel. My name's Azriel.""There, see? Now we aren't strangers anymore."

Self Portrait

Self portrait done a few
years ago of myself with
my brain characters from
various stories and Role Plays
that I have participated in.

All of the elves along the
bottom are Drow (dark elves)
The miniatures fellows with
them are Brownies, and the
black negative space guy
does not belong to me,
but to a friend. He just
ties in with the other Drow.

Storm Dingo

Meant to be for this weeks IF topic of "Storm".
A Storm dingo is watching you like a baby!

2D College Course

This image is from one of my old college courses ( 2 Dimensional Class, lotsa fun ) we had to have a set number of images and then use repetition of those images to create a story by doubling them as time went on. 2-4-8-16-32-64

I drew all the images separately to be approved and then compiled it in Photoshop to achieve the effect I wanted. After that they were hand inked onto nice paper and made into a book as per project instructions. It was an interesting project to say the least.

Missed and Moved

So ya'll can see that I haven't been very active lately. In fact, I completely missed last weeks IF topic (much to my consternation, must get back on the wagon!). I should be getting back to the drawing board this week however since I'm a little more settled.
The reason is because last weekend I moved back to my hometown in Vermont! So between trying to get settled into my new environment and my son wanting to be outside in the snow with the dogs, it's been a bit trying. So I will be making a bunch of scheduled posts with some older sketches of mine to fill the gap for a little while. I'll been throwing in new ones now and then, but till I'm back on my feet it's older works.

For a very long time I played World of Warcraft online and as
such I incorporated other real life characters I had created
into the game world. Amber is one such creation.
She is pictured below in her chest piece with her
bronze dragon mount.

IF: Psychedelic Wings

I like this one far better for Wings...just wasn't feeling my bat to much.
What do you guys think? Which is better, the black and white, or the gradient?
(ignore that huge white spot for right now, I haven't decided what to put there yet)

IF: Wings

"Jiselle gasped as a bat
swooped low over her
class before ascending
sharply into the night sky
with a whoop of delight.
Their flying instructor
smirked at the alarmed
expressions around her
and delightfully pointed
up. 'That, ladies and
gentlemen, is your night
instructor!' she grinned
fully as the bat landed
behind her with a soft
whoosh of noise."

Something a bit simple this

time. Maybe I'll make it
more complicated with a
background later.
IF theme this week
is Wings, so why not
some flying lessons!

Sketch journal cover

Made a small sketchbook
at work the other day.
Cardboard front and back
laser paper interior ( it soaks
up black ink really well. Not so
good for pencil. Smudges.)

Did this for the cover!
Black ink and sharpie.

IF: Myth 'Orange Spotted Mrigen'

The very rare and
colorful Orange Spotted
Mrigen is surprisingly
hard to catch in
action! You'd think with
its bright colors they'd
be easy to spot. It
took me hours to finally
get a good look at
this little fellow (male gender
noted by his 'beard')
Be careful of those claws,
they are sharp!

IF: Myth 'Hades and Persephone'

"Persephone smiled as she went through the fields picking wild flowers and tending
to the small plants. She was so intent upon her duties that she didn't notice how
far from her mother that she had wandered. Hades, however, did. Seeing his prize
within easy reach he burst through the earth in his blackened chariot and grabbed
Persephone before she could even scream and was swallowed back up by the
chasm he had created."
IF topic: Myth.
This is the second one
I did. This is also my
favorite greek story.
Poor Persephone!

IF: Myth 'The Sock Monster'

"Om nom nom nom!"
Illustration Friday topic
this week is Myth! It
was so hard to try and pick
just one...in the end I did
not succeed so be ready
for more myth related
images!

This one is about
the sock eating monster
known to us as the
domesticated 'Dryer'.
It enjoys leaving us with
one lonely sock instead
of a matching set :(

Spacenautical

"Woah, would you look at that *munchmunch*"
 So this was originally
going to be another
submission for
Illustration Friday.
There topic this week
is 'Ocean' But instead
of putting an ocean scene
I thought I liked the
idea of space.

What is space, if not
the ocean of the universe?

Creeptacular!

Chitterchitterchitter!
 I've never really cared
for insects. They generally
creep me right out!
I blame it on being a
girl, but what are you
going to do?

As such, I thought it
would be kind of nifty
to make my own strange
bug! He looks a bit
like a pokemon on
steroids though :/

The Fox and the Wolf

"What are you looking at?"
 Quick work doodle
done with ballpoint
pen and sharpie's.
Used reference
but the anatomy is
still rather strange.
I'm still fairly satisfied
with it!

The Open Sea

Sailing on the open rolling sea, with no idea what's under me.

Illustration Friday topic: Ocean
Done at work, limited color on
markers there. Still like the turnout!

The Edge of Color

Gravity? Who needs that when you have color!

I found Illustration Friday a day
or two ago and I really loved the
concept behind it. I managed to
submit this JUST in time to be the
last upload for the topic 'Edge'.
I can't wait for the next topic!

Foxes, rabbits, and panthers oh my!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Welcome to 2013!
